Family Run & Veteran Owned Homestead

Raising Miniature Australian Shepherds with purpose, integrity, and heart so they are ready to take their place in your heart and home.

Welcome to The Blessed Barnyard

Welcome to The Blessed Barnyard, a family-run and veteran-owned homestead nestled in the heart of South Texas. What started as a simple love for animals has grown into a way of life rooted in faith, hard work, and togetherness.

As a former veterinary technician in the Army, I developed a deep respect for animal care and stewardship. Now, my kids are following in those footsteps—sharing my passion and playing an active role in everything we do. Whether we’re raising Mini Australian Shepherds, tending to our barnyard animals, or growing our little slice of the land, we do it as a family.

Our goal is to raise animals with purpose, integrity, and heart—and to invite you into the story along the way.

Welcome to the Barnyard. We’re glad you’re here.

Here on The Blessed Barnyard, our Miniature Australian Shepherds aren’t just dogs, they’re family

Raised right alongside our kids, chickens, and country life, our Aussies are well-socialized, smart, and full of personality.

We breed for temperament, health, and that signature Aussie loyalty that makes them the perfect companion…whether you’re working the land or cuddling on the couch.

From puppy breath to pasture zoomies, life’s just better with an Aussie (or two) by your side.

Frequently Asked Questions

What breed of puppies do you raise?

At The Blessed Barnyard, we specialize in Miniature Australian Shepherds. This is an intelligent, loyal, and highly trainable breed known for their strong bond with their families and versatility in both active and companion homes.

Are your dogs registered?

Yes. All of our puppies are registered, and both parents are on site. This allows us to ensure quality, consistency, and transparency in our breeding program.

What are Mini Australian Shepherds like?

Mini Aussies are known for their intelligence, eagerness to please, and affectionate nature. They thrive when given mental stimulation and enjoy being part of daily family life. While they are active, they can adapt well to various living situations when properly exercised and engaged.

Why did you start The Blessed Barnyard?

The Blessed Barnyard was built from a love of animals, family, and a desire to raise puppies with purpose. As a family-run, veteran-owned homestead, we believe in doing things the right way….raising puppies in a hands-on, intentional environment where they are known, loved, and well-prepared for their future homes.
Our goal is not just to raise puppies, but to place lifelong companions into families where they will be valued and cared for.

How are your puppies raised?

Our puppies are raised in a family environment on our homestead. They are handled daily, exposed to children, and introduced to everyday sights and sounds. This early socialization helps them grow into confident, well-adjusted dogs.

What is your weaning process?

We follow a gradual and gentle weaning process to support both the puppies and their mother.

  • Puppies begin transitioning to softened food around 3–4 weeks of age
  • We slowly introduce high-quality puppy food while still allowing time with mom
  • By 6–7 weeks, puppies are primarily eating on their own
  • We focus on clean feeding areas, routine, and positive food introduction

This approach helps support healthy digestion, proper growth, and an easier transition into their new homes.

When can puppies go home?

Puppies are typically ready to go home at around 8 weeks of age. Each litter will have a specific “ready date” provided in advance.

What comes with each puppy?

Each puppy goes home with:

  • Registration paperwork
  • Age-appropriate vaccinations
  • Dewclaws removed
  • Tail docked
  • Health record
  • Transition guidance
Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a puppy. Deposits are transferable to a future litter if needed.

Can we visit the puppies?

Yes. Visits are available after a deposit has been placed. This helps us maintain a safe and low-stress environment for both our puppies and their mothers.

Do you offer delivery or shipping?

We offer multiple options including:

  • On-site pickup at our homestead
  • Airport pickup in the San Antonio area
  • Trusted flight nanny services

We are happy to help coordinate the safest option for your puppy.

How do I choose the right puppy?

We are happy to help match you with the right puppy based on temperament, energy level, and your lifestyle. Mini Aussies can vary in personality, and we take time to get to know each puppy as they grow.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes. We maintain a waitlist for upcoming litters. Joining the list early allows for better selection opportunities.

Do you offer support after adoption?

Yes. We are always available to answer questions and support our families. Once you bring home a puppy from The Blessed Barnyard, you are part of our extended family.
